Stonar School pupils successfully completed the prestigious Army Ten Tors Challenge last month – with all three of the school’s entered teams crossing the finish line at Okehampton Camp before 3pm on Sunday – in a remarkable display of determination, teamwork and endurance.
This marks the first year Stonar fielded a team in each of the three distances – 35, 45 and 55 miles. Following eight months of rigorous training through Dartmoor’s toughest conditions – from torrential rain to gale-force winds – all 18 pupils proudly finished the expedition, marking a major milestone in the school’s Ten Tors journey.
Charlotte Bennett, Stonar’s Director of Partnerships, praised the teams’ efforts. “The pupils have shown commitment and resilience in an age where instant gratification is the norm,” she said. “To see them push themselves through the physical and mental demands of Dartmoor and come out the other side smiling is genuinely inspiring.”
Over 2,400 teenagers from across the UK descended on Okehampton Camp for the annual challenge, which has long been considered one of the most gruelling youth endurance events in the country.
