The Bath BodyArt Weekend took place in Bath in June, offering students a chance to showcase their skills, gain hands-on experience and learn directly from some of the body art industry’s most respected professionals.
The introduction of the Student Taster Day marked a major step forward in championing young, creative talent, especially from local colleges like Bath College.

In the Avant Garde Make-up competition, Bath College student Alex Aitkenhead took first place, impressing judges with an imaginative and technically polished design. Fellow Bath student Maddison Flippance also excelled, earning third place, while second place went to Chloe Hudson-Jones from New College Swindon.
In the Fantasy Face Painting category, Bath College’s Imogin Gibson achieved a well-deserved second place for her bold and artistic entry. The category was won by Veronica Anello of New College Swindon, with Jaye Bryan (also from New College Swindon) placing third.
University-level competitors also took to the stage, with Yana Hatsenko from University Centre Weston winning the Body Art competition. New College Swindon’s Sharn Roberts and Summer Clargo completed the top three.
Bath College students also had the unique opportunity to learn from leading artists through a series of live demonstrations. Highlights included safe henna application with Gwen Davies, body painting techniques from international artists Matteo Arfanotti and Monique Lily, and a dramatic character transformation session by Helen Miles using prosthetics and handmade costume elements.
The event not only celebrated artistic creativity but also gave Bath College students the chance to build confidence, explore professional pathways, and gain recognition for their talent in a vibrant, supportive environment.
