Goughs Solicitors has strengthened its Family Department this autumn with the arrival of two new trainee solicitors, as the firm continues to invest in the next generation of legal professionals.
September saw the appointment of Eden Wey, Adelaide Longhurst and Samuel Berkeley as trainee solicitors. Both Eden and Samuel have begun their first seats with the Family team, a department that plays a central role in supporting local families with matters such as divorce, finances and child arrangements.
Eden, who has worked in Goughs’ Housebuilding and Development Department for three years while completing a Master of Laws part time, said, “I’ve really enjoyed working in the commercial teams at the firm for the past few years and have gained a huge amount of practical industry-based experience while completing my LLM/LPC alongside.
“Goughs is such a supportive learning environment so I’m very excited to apply my existing experience to my first seat in the Family Department.”
Samuel, who studied at the University of Swansea before gaining both his Legal Practice Course and Masters in Law, added, “I am very happy to be starting my training contract with Goughs. My first seat will be with the Family team and I am excited to work further on my professional development in this department and within the firm as a whole.”
Meanwhile, Adelaide, who recently completed her Solicitors Qualifying Examinations, has joined the Private Client team in Devizes, focusing on wills, trusts and probate. She commented, “My experience with the firm so far is that it is a very supportive and nurturing environment. I am really looking forward to starting in Devizes with the Private Client team, as this is an area I am eager to gain experience in.”
To give the new recruits an insight into how the business operates, Goughs arranged for them to spend their first few weeks working with the Finance and Marketing teams. The aim is to build commercial awareness alongside legal expertise, creating well-rounded advisors for the future.
