Looking for free family fun this October half term?
The Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI) is inviting local children and families to drop in for Bones, Beasts and Broomsticks, a week of hands-on science, design and creativity – all inspired by spooky autumn themes.
From magnetic monsters to ghostly crafts, there’s something for everyone. Budding scientists can explore magnetism through ‘beastly’ activities and even build their own magnetic spiders, while mini engineers can design and assemble moving dinosaur skeletons with split pins.
Creative minds will love making leaf art animals, ghost-catching collages, and even designing their own broomstick – perfect for young witches and wizards!
There’s also a maths challenge, Pint-size Plesiosaurs, helping children discover how their own size compares to prehistoric beasts, plus a geology-inspired activity, Become a Trick or Treat Timeline, where families can uncover “the scariest time to be alive” through fascinating fossil facts.
And for those brave enough, there’ll be ghost stories that might just reveal a few real-life Bath spirits…
The sessions are completely free, drop-in, and open to all ages, running from 10am–4pm daily throughout the October half term at BRLSI, 16 Queen Square, Bath.
No booking is required – just turn up, get creative and enjoy some spine-tingling science fun!
