Families invited to go green with Wiltshire Libraries this half term

Wiltshire Libraries Green Libraries Week

Wiltshire Libraries will be marking Green Libraries Week 2025 with a packed programme of free eco-themed events, activities and advice for families across the county.

Running until Sunday 2 November, the national campaign celebrates how libraries are helping communities build a greener, more sustainable future. This year’s theme – Seeds of Change: Make a Difference with Your Library – focuses on inspiring positive environmental action through fun, hands-on experiences for all ages.

Families can take part in green-themed rhyme times and story sessions, along with friendly drop-ins where children can learn about energy saving, recycling and nature. There will also be free energy advice sessions for parents and carers, with partners including Warm and Safe Wiltshire and Zero Chippenham on hand to offer practical tips on home energy efficiency and sustainable living.

Visitors can also see thermal imaging camera demonstrations, showing how heat escapes from homes and how small changes can make a big difference to energy use. Library members can even borrow a thermal imaging camera for free from larger Wiltshire libraries or reserve one online for collection at their local branch.

Wiltshire Libraries continue to offer a huge range of free resources for readers and learners of all ages – including more than 380,000 books, 10,000 audiobooks, 3,300 e-books and 6,000 e-magazines. Families can also access digital resources through the Libby and Solus apps, making it easier than ever to read and learn on the go.
