Families are invited to experience the magic of Christmas as The Snowman returns to the big screen – this time with the enchanting score performed live by Bath Philharmonia.
The special festive concert takes place at The Forum, Bath, on Friday 13 December 2025 at 3pm.
Before the film, audiences can enjoy a festive selection of orchestral favourites designed to set the mood for the holidays. Then, as the lights dim, The Snowman will appear on the cinema screen while Bath’s very own professional orchestra performs Howard Blake’s iconic score, including the timeless Walking in the Air.
First shown on Channel 4 in 1982, the story of the boy James and his magical snowman has become one of the most loved Christmas traditions for families across generations. Set in the beautifully restored art deco surroundings of The Forum, this live orchestral performance promises to make it even more special.
Past audiences have described the experience as “absolutely excellent”, “just beautiful”, and “the start of a very happy Christmas”.
Bath Philharmonia’s 35-piece orchestra, joined by guest singers, will bring the story to life in perfect harmony with Raymond Briggs’ animation – from the gentle sparkle of the celeste to the exhilarating chase on the snowman’s motorbike.
