Year 4 pupils from Roundhill Primary School in Bath enjoyed a fascinating journey into the past when they visited The Roman Baths earlier this month.
Travelling by local bus as part of their life skills learning, the children arrived at the ancient site ready to discover what life was like in Bath 2,000 years ago. During their visit they handled original artefacts, dressed in Roman clothing and even took on the role of archaeologists in the Clore Learning Centre’s underground Investigation Zone.

One pupil said, “I enjoyed looking around The Roman Baths and learning about it using the audio guide,” while another added, “I liked looking for the rocks underground because I got to explore more.”
Emily Pugh, Year 3 and 4 teacher at Roundhill Primary School, explained, “The session was run amazingly and all of the children got a turn to explore and have fun on all activities. They were able to share their own knowledge with the staff which they enjoyed as the staff were kind and engaging.”
The trip was part of the school’s ongoing commitment to providing hands-on, real-world learning experiences that build both academic understanding and practical life skills.
