Bath & North East Somerset Council is encouraging visitors to plan ahead for this year’s Bath Christmas Market and to make the most of public transport options, including the city’s Park & Ride services.
Running from 27 November to 14 December, the market is set to attract large crowds once again, with last year’s event welcoming around 444,000 visitors.
To help avoid delays, the council is advising visitors to look at all available travel options, particularly at weekends when the city is expected to be busiest. Bath is served by three Park & Ride sites, a central train station and several bus operators running regular services in and around the city.
Bath’s Park & Ride sites at Lansdown, Newbridge and Odd Down offer a combined 2,806 parking spaces, with additional overflow at Lansdown. Services will run later into the evenings for the Christmas Market, with the following timetables in place:
Monday–Friday
Every 10–15 minutes between 6.15am and 9pm, then every 30 minutes until 11.30pm.
Saturday
Every 5 minutes between 6.15am and 7pm, then every 15 minutes until 9pm and every 30 minutes until 11.30pm.
Sunday
Every 5 minutes between 9am and 7pm.
Extra staff will be on hand at peak times to support queuing and ticket sales. More details can be found on the Travelwest website.
The market is also just a short walk from Bath Spa train station, with regular services from London Paddington, London Waterloo and Bristol Temple Meads. Great Western Railway will run additional services on each Saturday of the event.
To help keep traffic moving, an embargo has been placed on all non-emergency highway works on key routes throughout the Christmas Market period.
