Pupils from St Mary’s Church of England Primary School and Nursery in Writhlington, Radstock, marked the start of Anti-Bullying Week by taking part in Odd Socks Day on 10 November.
Children and staff arrived at school in mismatched socks to celebrate individuality and kindness, helping to spread the message that being different should be celebrated.
Head Teacher Ms Lampert said, “Odd Socks Day is a celebration of what makes us unique — one colourful step at a time! On Monday, we proudly wore our mismatched socks to show that being different is something to be proud of.”
The day launched a week of themed activities around this year’s Anti-Bullying Week message, Make a Noise About Bullying. Pupils joined a whole-school worship and will take part in lessons and discussions throughout the week to promote respect, empathy and standing up for others.
A Year One pupil added, “Wearing odd socks made everyone smile. It shows we’re all different but still belong together.”
