St Augustine’s Catholic College in Trowbridge is inviting existing and prospective students to discover its sixth form at an open evening on Thursday 4 December, from 6pm to 8pm.
The college describes its post-16 offer as ‘supportive, ambitious and community-driven’, with the event designed to give families a clear sense of the academic and pastoral support available.
Headteacher Aidan Dowle extended a warm welcome ahead of the evening. “On behalf of the entire school community, I would like to wish you a warm welcome to St Augustine’s,” he said, “and we look forward to showing you what makes this place so special.”

Visitors will be able to meet staff, explore subject areas and take part in interactive learning activities that reflect the school’s ethos of high expectations paired with genuine care.
“We aim to give you a glimpse into the hospitality and high standards of learning that we are known for,” Mr Dowle added, “and while one evening cannot capture everything, we hope it will reflect the passion we have for educating and nurturing each student.”
A strong sense of community sits at the heart of St Augustine’s identity. Staff emphasise that students are at the centre of every decision, and that relationships across the school help each individual to thrive.
Mr Dowle explained, “A sense of community and family is the backbone of our sixth form environment, and these values stem from the international Catholic Lasallian Community, which our school is proud to be part of.”
The school’s approach was praised in its May 2024 Ofsted report, which highlighted the college’s ambition and ethos. Inspectors wrote, ‘The desire to provide educational opportunities which make individuals the best they can be drives all the school does. Sixth-form students are role models.’
The sixth form team offers a structured and supportive environment designed to help students grow academically, emotionally and socially. Many former pupils speak of the lifelong friendships and strong sense of belonging they found during their time at the college.
The open evening will give families the chance to experience this first-hand, with information on academic pathways, enrichment opportunities and the pastoral systems that support students throughout their time in sixth form.
