Primary school pupils enjoy hockey taster day with Team Bath Buccaneers

Primary school hockey day at Team Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club

Team Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club has welcomed more than 100 local primary school pupils for a fun-filled day of hockey as part of its growing Community Outreach Programme.

The Primary school taster day took place on Friday 28 November and brought together pupils from years 4 and 5 at clubs facilities in Bath.

Children attended from Combe Down Primary School, Oldfield Park Junior School, Widcombe Junior School and Batheaston Primary School, with the event marking the second year of the club’s Community Outreach Programme.

The day began with a high-energy mass warm-up, before pupils were split into smaller groups for the main activities.

They then took part in Carousel Hockey, moving between different stations to enjoy skills-based games and hockey exercises designed to build confidence, teamwork and enjoyment of the sport.

After a well-earned lunch break, the afternoon focused on small-sided games, giving pupils the chance to put their new skills into practice. Coaches also joined in, helping to create a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

Team Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club said the success of the day and the wider outreach programme is made possible through the continued support of its sponsors and partners.

The club thanked Elite Financial Consulting Ltd, ProFin and John Moore Sports, along with Louise Stossich, Community Outreach Coach, Mark Gunning from Palladian Trust, Keith Walters, Director of the TBBHC Junior Talent Centre, partner schools and club members.

The Community Outreach Programme aims to introduce more children to hockey locally while supporting schools and encouraging long-term participation in sport.
