Just when you thought it was safe to go back into Bath City Centre – it’s back!!!
Bath & North East Somerset Council has confirmed that the internationally acclaimed Bath Christmas Market will return from 26 November to 13 December 2026.
The announcement comes as this year’s 25th anniversary market drew to a close, with early data showing higher footfall than in 2024, when an estimated 444,000 visitors flocked to the city. More than 250 businesses – 65% from Bath and the surrounding area – joined 32 community groups for the 2025 event, which also introduced a new reindeer trail to encourage visitors to explore more of the city.
Christmas celebrations in Bath continue, with the Victorian carousel arriving on Stall Street on 18 December and Bath on Ice entertaining families at Royal Victoria Park.
Councillor Manda Rigby said, “I have been to this year’s Christmas Market every day and it’s been absolutely wonderful to chat with stallholders who come back year after year, and visitors who have absolutely loved the experience.”
She added that the council is proud to run one of Europe’s most successful Christmas markets, supporting hundreds of jobs and local businesses.
Katie, founder and designer at Pattern & Pearl in Bath, said, “Bath Christmas Market is the pivotal event of my year and plays a significant role in the growth of my business… One of the aspects I value most about the market is the sense of community it fosters.”
The council has also announced that Bath-based events company Muddy Dog has been awarded a renewed contract to deliver the market up to 2030. Co-director Alex Clarke said they were thrilled to continue supporting this flagship event.
The 2024 market generated an estimated £60.4m turnover for businesses, supported more than 500 jobs and delivered a £48.9m associated spend in the city.
