Chippenham RFC’s Under 11s have received a welcome boost thanks to a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Wessex.
The funding, provided through the developer’s Community Champions programme, will help kit out the team for the 2025/26 season.
The club, founded in 1898, has around 400 members and plays its home fixtures at Allington Fields. The donation will cover the cost of a full set of match day kit for the squad.
Commenting on the donation, Chippenham RFC Under 11s Team Manager Luke Maggs said, “We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for their donation. The money they have provided has funded the whole squad to have a full set of match day kit. The smile on their faces when the kit was handed was priceless.”
Oak Hill Rise, Persimmon’s local development, will deliver 95 new homes in Chippenham once complete, with properties available from £284,995. The no-gas development features air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
Persimmon donates £700,000 each year to good causes and community organisations through Community Champions. Recent local support includes sponsorship of the Chippenham Teen Takeover for the past two years.
Persimmon Homes Wessex Sales Director Pauline Fletcher said, “As a local developer, Persimmon is always happy to fund local youth sports teams as they are often a central part of bringing together young people in the community.”
She added, “Deploying our Community Champions funding for schemes that keep children healthy and social is exactly where we want to see it going, so lending a helping hand to Chippenham RFC is something we are very happy to do.”
