Easton Royal Academy in Pewsey, Wiltshire, is celebrating a major achievement after being crowned South West regional winners of the National Read Aloud Challenge.

The competition, organised by Fonetti, recognises schools that are building strong reading cultures and inspiring children to read aloud with confidence and enjoyment.

Staff and pupils were invited to a high-profile awards ceremony at Amazon Headquarters in London, marking a memorable day of celebration and recognition.

The prestigious award was presented by Clare Balding, with guests also inspired by keynote speeches from Louise Hill, founder of GoHenry, and Olympic gold medallist Morgan Bolding.

The event brought together schools and education innovators from across the country, offering opportunities to share ideas and celebrate excellence in literacy.

Judges and organisers highlighted how impressive it was for a school of Easton Royal Academy’s size to achieve such a significant national accolade.

The day was also a confidence-boosting experience for pupils, who took part in filmed media interviews on arrival in London.

They spoke with enthusiasm about their love of reading and how it is supported both at home and at school, making staff and families immensely proud.
