Families are in for a colourful treat this spring as the popular Wellow Way 10k and Colour Run return on Sunday 22 March.
Now in its seventh year, the community event is organised by St Julian’s School PTA and follows the sell-out success of last year’s family colour run. Hundreds of runners of all ages are expected to take part, from seasoned 10k runners to children taking on their very first fun race.
The colour run takes place on the Wellow recreation ground. Participants will follow a relaxed looping circuit, complete with colour-throwing stations and a few mini obstacles to navigate along the way.
Children – and grown-ups – are welcome to take part, and can run as many laps as they like until the colour runs out or little legs call it a day.
To make sure everyone finishes the race in rainbow style, runners will be able to buy a white T-shirt to maximise the colour effect, plus sunglasses to help keep paint out of eyes.
There’s also a playful twist this year. The PTA will sell small colour pouches so that parents can get their own back and cover their children head to toe in powder paint.
Alongside the colour run, families will be able to cheer on older children and adults taking part in the Wellow Way 10k and 5k routes – perfect for those wanting more of a challenge.
The event is open to all ages, including children who are too young to take part in the longer distances. There is no minimum age and buggies are welcome around the colour run course.
Larger families won’t miss out either, with the PTA offering a sibling discount for households with more than three children.
Places are expected to fill quickly, so early booking is advised.
