Forestry England has launched a brand new Room on the Broom trail at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, inviting families to enjoy a magical outdoor adventure inspired by the much-loved children’s book.
The new trail brings Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s story to life in the forest and will run throughout 2026 to celebrate the book’s 25th anniversary.

From Tuesday 27 January, families can follow Witch and her friends on a spellbinding journey through the arboretum.
Children are invited to help Witch find her lost hat, bow and wand while collecting magical ingredients to complete her spell.
Each stop along the trail features fun activities, woodland facts and hands-on challenges designed to encourage exploration and play in the forest.

Holly Firks-Matthews, Visitor Attraction Manager at Westonbirt, said, “We’re thrilled to bring the magic of Room on the Broom to Westonbirt. This trail is a wonderful way for families to connect with nature, enjoy a beloved story, and create unforgettable memories together.
“With fun activities and enchanting surprises along the way, it’s the perfect adventure for young explorers.”
Families can also purchase a Room on the Broom trail pack for £4.
Each pack includes a themed lanyard, magic spell cards, stickers, a pencil and a pop-out craft to create a witchy wand to use along the trail.
The trail continues Forestry England’s long-running partnership with Magic Light Pictures, which has brought Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s characters into forest settings since 2014.
The new trail offers families a playful way to enjoy the outdoors while following a familiar story through the trees.
