Families in Bradford on Avon are being invited to pick up a racket and get active this spring, as Barclays Free Park Tennis launches at Culver Close Tennis Courts.
The free, hour-long sessions start on Sunday 1 March and will run on the first Sunday of every month, from 10am to 11am, offering a relaxed and welcoming way for children, parents and grandparents to enjoy tennis together.
Led by friendly local volunteers, the sessions are open to all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to those looking to brush up their skills. No experience is needed — and even better, no equipment is required.
Organiser Colin Payton says the sessions are all about making tennis accessible, social and fun.
Players can turn up solo or with friends, meet new people, get moving outdoors and enjoy free exercise in their local park.
What you need to know
The sessions take place at Culver Close Tennis Courts on Pound Lane, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1FS. Dates currently available are Sunday 1 March and Sunday 5 April 2026.
Places are free but must be booked in advance via ClubSpark. Participants will need to create a free LTA Advantage account with the Lawn Tennis Association to book.
Volunteers wanted
The organisers are also looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged 18+ to help run the sessions. No coaching qualifications or tennis background are required — just a friendly attitude and a willingness to help others enjoy the game.
