Families looking for creative ways to spend February half term will find plenty of activities to enjoy at some of Bath’s best-loved heritage venues, with hands-on events taking place across the city.
From colourful craft sessions to space-themed discoveries, Bath Preservation Trust is inviting families to explore history, science and creativity through a programme designed to inspire curious young minds.
Create a kaleidoscope at No.1 Royal Crescent
At No.1 Royal Crescent, children can get creative by making their own kaleidoscope, inspired by the striking shapes and colours featured in the exhibition Handle with Care: Cornelia Parker & Historic Glass.
This relaxed craft activity gives children the chance to experiment with light and reflection while learning how kaleidoscopes work.

Explore the Moon at the Herschel Museum
At the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, families can celebrate Lunar New Year by creating a spinning model of the Sun, Earth and Moon. The hands-on activity helps children understand how the Moon moves through its monthly phases in a fun and accessible way.

Planetarium experience at Bath Central Library
For a memorable half-term highlight, families can step inside a pop-up planetarium at Bath Central Library. This immersive show explores the night sky, Lunar New Year traditions and the planets visible from Earth.
The planetarium experience forms part of the Lunar New Year celebrations organised by the Herschel Museum of Astronomy and the Museum of East Asian Art.
