Royal High Bath launches hands-on masterclass open events for girls in Years 4–6

Royal High Bath has launched free Saturday Masterclass open events for girls in Years 4–6, giving families a hands-on taste of learning at the school.

The Royal High School Bath has launched a new series of Masterclass open events at its Senior school, giving families a fresh alternative to the traditional open day.

Open to girls in Years 4–6 from any school, the events combine school visits with practical, skills-based learning sessions. They are designed to give pupils a real taste of classroom life at Royal High through interactive activities across subjects including Art, Sport, Classics and Languages.

The Masterclasses also give prospective pupils the chance to explore the Senior school site, which will become the home for Years 5 and 6 from September 2026. This follows the school’s recent announcement that Royal High will move to a single-site 9–18 age range.

From 2026, pupils in Years 5 and 6 will benefit from specialist subject teachers, access to facilities normally reserved for older students and a smoother transition into Year 7, all within one school environment.

Head of Royal High, Heidi-Jayne Boyes, said, “At Royal High, we want prospective students to experience what learning here is really like. Our Masterclass events give participants the chance to get involved, try new subjects and enjoy the kind of hands-on, inspiring lessons that are part of everyday life at the school.

“They also provide the opportunity to experience the Senior school environment, which will become the home for Years 5 and 6 from 2026, supporting a smooth and confident transition into the later years of education.”
