A much-loved walking and running challenge organised by Ralph Allen School is set to return this spring, with The Bath Beat taking place on Saturday 25 April 2026.
Run entirely by the school, The Bath Beat starts and finishes on the Ralph Allen School site and welcomes walkers and runners of all abilities, combining fresh air, stunning scenery and a strong community feel.

Participants can choose from four distances – 12.5, 17, 21 or 26.5 miles – making it suitable for everyone from confident family walkers to experienced endurance runners.
The carefully planned routes, designed and managed by the school’s organising team, head into the beautiful countryside on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, following public footpaths through woodland, rolling hills, river valleys and farmland.
Longer routes pass through villages including Bathford, Avoncliffe, Hinton Charterhouse, Norton St Philip, Wellow and Combe Hay, before returning to Bath via the historic Somerset Coal Canal at Midford.
One of the event’s standout features is its famously generous refreshments.
All routes include well-stocked checkpoints with homemade cakes and sandwiches, while the 21 and 26.5-mile routes also offer hot food and drinks at a halfway indoor stop.
Every entry includes full route support provided by the school team, recovery assistance if needed, a finisher’s medal, and plenty of food and drink at the finish.
