Families in and around Melksham can look forward to a packed programme of free and low-cost February half term activities, with creative workshops, family films and plenty of Pancake Day fun.
Organised by Melksham Town Council, the events are designed to keep children entertained, encourage creativity and bring the local community together during the school holidays.
Pancake Day fun in Melksham
Tuesday 17 February from 12.00
Melksham Market Place will host a lively Pancake Day celebration, with family-friendly pancake races and pancake-flipping competitions for both children and parents.
Whether you are a flipping pro or just up for a laugh, families are encouraged to come along and take part. Local pub The Kings Arms will also be serving pancakes on the day for hungry spectators and competitors.
Free bunting-making workshops
Wednesday 18 February and Thursday 19 February at 10.00 and 13.30
The Melksham Flag Group will run four free bunting-making workshops at Melksham Town Hall, inviting children and their families to create colourful, nature-inspired designs.
The bunting will decorate Melksham Market Place in celebration of the upcoming 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, recognising his lifelong contribution to conservation and the natural world.
All materials are provided, but places must be booked in advance due to high demand. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Family film at Melksham Assembly Hall
Friday 20 February at 14.00
The week ends with a family film screening of Nim’s Island at Melksham Assembly Hall.
The adventure follows Nim, who lives on a remote island with her marine-biologist father. When he goes missing at sea, she teams up with an unlikely adventure author to face their fears and bring him home.
Free tickets are available online, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Melksham Town Council says the programme reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting families and boosting community engagement during school holidays.
