Impactful consent workshop offered to BANES school students at Theatre Royal Bath

BANES students aged 16+ can attend a lawyer-led consent workshop linked to Prima Facie at Theatre Royal Bath this February.

BANES school students aged 16+ are being offered a powerful and thought-provoking learning opportunity through a lawyer-led consent workshop linked to the acclaimed play Prima Facie.

The workshop forms part of the UK and Ireland tour of Prima Facie, which comes to Theatre Royal Bath for a sold-out run from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 February, starring Jodie Comer.

The consent workshop will take place at the theatre on Wednesday 25 February from 1pm to 3pm and is designed specifically for young people aged 16 and over.

After attending the workshop, students will also experience a performance of Prima Facie on the Main House stage from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Friday 27 February (understudy performance). Both sessions must be attended.

For schools unable to travel on separate days, limited places are available to attend an NT Live screening of Prima Facie on Wednesday 25 February at 10.30am, immediately before the workshop.

The session builds on the powerful themes explored in Prima Facie and combines filmed performance with interactive discussion to deepen understanding, encourage reflection and support meaningful conversation.

The workshop has been created in collaboration with Everyone’s Invited and Schools Consent Project, offering students a safe, structured space to explore consent, the law, power dynamics and gender inequality.

Students are encouraged to ask questions, challenge misconceptions and develop empathy and critical thinking skills, helping them to consider the impact of their choices and the role they play in creating positive change.

Delivered by the Schools Consent Project, the workshop is led by qualified lawyers who provide clear, accessible guidance on consent and the law. Since 2015, the charity’s network of more than 300 lawyers has worked with over 70,000 young people worldwide.

Everyone’s Invited, founded in 2020, works to expose and eradicate rape culture with empathy and compassion. Its education programme has already reached more than 50,000 students across the UK.

Prima Facie is written by Suzie Miller, winner of the Olivier Award for Best Play, and directed by Justin Martin. The production’s creative team includes composer Rebecca Lucy Taylor, set and costume designer Miriam Buether and lighting designer Natasha Chivers.
