Stonar pupils take to the international stage at global music festival in Spain

Stonar pupils travelled to Spain to perform with 300 young musicians at the Globeducate International Music Festival in Castellón.

Pupils from Stonar travelled to Spain this January to take part in one of the most memorable musical events of the year, the 14th annual Globeducate International Music Festival.

Hosted by Agora Lledó International School in Castellón, the festival brought together more than 300 young musicians and singers from 24 schools across Europe and Canada.

Performing as a combined orchestra and choir, pupils aged seven to 17 filled the Auditori i Palau de Congressos with sound, energy and emotion, captivating a packed audience in the concert hall and thousands more watching online.

After months of preparation in their home schools, including Stonar, pupils came together for three intensive days of rehearsals in Spain.

The experience culminated in a breathtaking final performance of five movements from Adiemus Symphony by renowned composer Karl Jenkins, a technically demanding and deeply moving work that showcased musical excellence and teamwork on an extraordinary scale.

For Stonar’s Honour, a Year 10 trumpet player, the experience was unforgettable. She said, “The Music Festival was an amazing experience. Getting the chance to perform with a full orchestra was definitely my favourite part. There was such a big audience watching, which felt really surreal, and it was also wonderful to make new friends from different countries.”

Beyond the music itself, the festival offered pupils a rare opportunity to connect with like-minded young people from around the world.

Rehearsals, shared performances and time spent together helped forge new friendships and a strong sense of international community, making the trip a truly memorable experience for all involved.
