A Trowbridge school has been recognised for its commitment to helping children start the day ready to learn.
Holbrook Primary School has been selected as a Breakfast Club Champion school, recognising the success of its free breakfast club and its role in supporting pupils’ wellbeing and readiness for learning.
The school will now work alongside the Department for Education (DfE) to support other schools introducing or expanding free breakfast club provision. This will involve sharing best practice, hosting visits and offering guidance as part of the government’s national rollout of free breakfast clubs.
Breakfast clubs are increasingly recognised as an important part of the school day, helping pupils arrive settled, nourished and ready to learn. They also provide valuable support for working families by offering free and reliable childcare at the start of the day.
Holbrook Primary School was selected because of the strong take-up and success of its breakfast provision. Pupils are welcomed into a friendly and engaging environment where they can enjoy nutritious food and spend time with friends before lessons begin.
The initiative also helps children build positive relationships with staff and classmates, creating a calm and supportive start to the school day.

By taking on the role of Breakfast Club Champion school, Holbrook Primary School will help share practical advice and real-world experience with other schools across the country, helping more children benefit from a positive start to their day.
