Roundhill Primary School in Bath has been praised by Ofsted as a place ‘where everyone is warmly welcomed’, with inspectors highlighting the school’s ‘broad, balanced and ambitious’ curriculum.
Following an inspection on 13 January, the Southdown school was confirmed as no longer being in Special Measures, marking an important step forward for the whole school community.

Inspectors recognised the impact of recent changes, noting that ‘many recent improvements in the school have had an impact on pupils’ current learning’. The report also highlighted the positive difference made by the new senior leadership team.
Staff morale was singled out as a strength. ‘Staff feel valued, listened to and supported… morale is high, and there is a clear determination among staff to ensure that the school continues to move forward.’

In Early Years, inspectors praised the new curriculum, which allows children to build securely on their learning from nursery through to Reception. ‘High quality interactions between staff and children are now a key feature of the setting’, the report said, also noting the warm relationships developed with families.
Safeguarding arrangements were found to be effective.
On support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), the report said ‘the school has introduced an ambitious curriculum to help these pupils build the knowledge and skills they need.’
Emma Cooper, Headteacher at Roundhill, said, “This Ofsted report is a huge milestone for our whole community and reflects the hard work of our children, staff, governors, families and Trust colleagues. While there’s still more to do, we are proud of how far the school has come and are excited about the next chapter for Roundhill.”
Roundhill Primary is part of The Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of 17 schools across Bath & North East Somerset and Somerset.
Emily Massey, CEO of The Partnership Trust, said, “This report reflects the determination of Roundhill and the Trust to create an inclusive, nurturing, and aspirational place of learning. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue this journey.”
For families in Bath, the report signals renewed confidence in a local school focused on high expectations, strong leadership and ensuring every child feels welcome.
