Three cousins arrived into the world within hours of each other at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, creating a remarkable family story that will be celebrated for years to come.
The rare coincidence took place on Friday 6 February when Georgie, from Bridgeyate in South Gloucestershire, gave birth to identical twin girls, Frankie and Connie.
Just hours later, Georgie’s brother Billy and his partner Kiera welcomed their son Maddox at the same hospital.
Georgie said, “It still feels surreal that we all became parents on the very same day. We joked about it happening and then it actually did!”
The family were able to share the special moment together on the maternity ward, with the newborn cousins meeting almost immediately after they were born.
Georgie added, “It was a very emotional day for us all, one our family will never forget. It was so special seeing the cousins all together and being able to pop down the hall and see one another on the ward.”
Baby Maddox arrived exactly on his due date, while twins Frankie and Connie made their appearance slightly earlier than expected.
With identical twins occurring in around one in 250 births, and only around 4–5% of babies born on their due date, the family’s triple arrival on the same day is an extraordinary coincidence.
Georgie praised the maternity team at the hospital for their care and support during such a memorable day.
“The staff at the RUH have been amazing. They kept us calm, reassured and supported throughout, and we can’t thank them enough for the care we all received,” she said.
While the three cousins may have made their entrance in unusual circumstances, their family is already looking forward to celebrating their shared birthdays for many years to come.
Georgie added, “We can’t wait for all the joint birthday parties in the years to come!”
