Lower sixth students from Stonar School have returned from an inspiring international trip, taking part in the 2026 Globeducate Model United Nations (MUN) conference in Nice.
They joined 140 students and 20 staff from 18 schools worldwide for three days of debate, negotiation and collaboration.
The trip began on the French Riviera, with students exploring the historic Old Town of Antibes. Time was also spent preparing speeches and refining arguments ahead of the conference.
The event officially opened on 4 March at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Sophia Antipolis.
Delegates heard from organisers at Mougins British International School, along with guest speakers who highlighted the importance of diplomacy, listening and understanding different perspectives.
Students then took part in debates across key committees including the General Assembly and the Security Council. Each student represented an assigned country, working with others to propose solutions to global issues.
A standout moment came during a fast-paced crisis scenario, where delegates responded to a fictional international conflict involving Vietnam, the United States and China. Working under pressure, students had just three hours to negotiate, draft resolutions and agree on a solution before the situation escalated.
The exercise tested teamwork, diplomacy and critical thinking, while offering a realistic insight into global decision-making.
Throughout the conference, Stonar students represented the school with enthusiasm and thoughtful debate, making the experience both rewarding and memorable.
