Two teams from King Edward’s School Bath have been named finalists in the 2026 PA Raspberry Pi Competition, continuing the school’s strong run in the national contest.
Pupils from the Pre-Prep and Junior school will compete in the Year 4–6 category final, which takes place at Google HQ in London on Wednesday 6 May.
The annual competition, organised by PA Consulting, celebrates STEM learning by challenging children to design technology-based solutions to real-world problems using a Raspberry Pi microcomputer. This year’s theme, ‘Building a Positive Human Future’, encouraged teams to focus on inclusivity, accessibility and social impact, with projects aimed at improving wellbeing, sustainability and community life.
King Edward’s School will be represented by 11 pupils from Years 5 and 6, with two finalist teams showcasing innovative ideas.
The Raspberry Penguins team has created a QR-code system designed to reduce lost property in schools, helping items find their way back to owners while cutting waste and replacement costs.
Meanwhile, Pi-Pals has developed an interactive app to support children in hospital, enabling them to stay connected with family and friends, access learning resources and reflect on their feelings. The app also includes tailored settings for children with dyslexia and ADHD.
Mrs Cook, ICT and Computing Co-Ordinator, said, “I am incredibly proud of our two Raspberry Pi teams who have made it through to the finals at Google HQ in London. They have shown outstanding commitment, worked tirelessly, and supported one another brilliantly as true team players.”
She added, “The innovative and highly technical projects they have designed are not only impressive but also inspiring and creative, reflecting just how much they have learned along the way. A huge well done to everyone involved, they should be immensely proud of themselves!”
The school has now reached the competition finals for four consecutive years, highlighting its ongoing focus on digital skills, creativity and real-world learning.
