Wiltshire children’s choir to debut with Seth Lakeman at Blue Sky Festival

A Wiltshire children’s choir will perform with Seth Lakeman at Corsham’s Blue Sky Festival this June in an exciting debut for young singers.

Voices for Life Wiltshire Children’s Choir will make its first public performance on 12 June at the Blue Sky Festival in Corsham, appearing alongside Mercury Prize nominated folk singer Seth Lakeman.

Launched in January in collaboration with Heywood Prep school, the choir features children aged 6–11 and will perform a mix of Lakeman’s songs, from soulful laments to lively jigs.

Choir leader Angelique Williamson said, “It is a genuine privilege to work with these young singers, whose energy and spirit bring connection and uplift every rehearsal. Their focus and progress have been remarkable and I cannot wait to see them perform – I know they will leave everyone with a smile!”

The choir is one of three inclusive junior choirs run by Bath-based charity Voices for Life, offering children the chance to perform at major venues and events with no previous experience required.

Following their debut, the group will go on to perform at WOMAD at Neston Park from 23–26 July, singing traditional songs from around the world with festival favourite Camilo Menjura.

Since launching in 2021, Voices for Life has worked with more than 31,000 children through singing and wellbeing projects, assemblies and workshops across the South West and beyond. Its flagship school programmes have shown strong results, with more than 80% of children reporting improved confidence and 78% enjoying singing more.
