Pupils at Christ the King Catholic Primary School in Amesbury are celebrating after four children were recognised in the Mayor of Amesbury’s ‘Our Amesbury, Our Community’ competition.
Kai and Faith from Year 6, alongside Year 5 pupils Sonny and Alex, were all named winners in the contest, which invited residents to share what the town means to them.
Organised by the Mayor of Amesbury, Councillor Dr Monica Devendran, the competition aimed to celebrate the people, places and connections that make the town such a vibrant and welcoming community. Entries included written pieces and images reflecting local life, with categories for adults, young people and primary-aged children.
Staff at the school praised the children for their thoughtful contributions and the pride they showed in representing their community.
Christ the King Catholic Primary School provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where every pupil is encouraged to grow in confidence and develop a strong sense of belonging.
Councillor Dr Devendran said, “A heartfelt thanks to all the pupils who took part in the Mayor’s Community Engagement Competition, ‘Our Amesbury, Our Community’. Your creativity, enthusiasm and thoughtful ideas truly reflect the spirit of our town. Headteacher Sophie Short said, “We’re really proud of the pupils for this fantastic achievement. Their entries showed real creativity and a strong connection to Amesbury, capturing what makes the town so special. It’s a brilliant example of children taking pride in their community.”
