Nature inspires budding artists from Marksbury Primary School

Reception pupils from Marksbury Church of England Primary School visited The Pig near Bath, using the gardens as inspiration for sketches and paintings.



Reception pupils from Marksbury Church of England Primary School enjoyed an inspiring afternoon at The Pig near Bath, using the hotel’s beautiful gardens as the setting for a creative art session.

The school regularly visits the nearby venue as part of its enrichment programme, giving pupils opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. Previous visits have included discovering how food is grown and prepared, developing map-reading skills around the grounds and exploring the natural environment.

During their latest visit, the Reception class focused on still life, choosing flowers and plants from the gardens as inspiration for their sketches and paintings.

Miss Moore, Reception teacher, said, “The children had a wonderful afternoon exploring the gardens at The Pig. We have been learning about still life and the children chose plants from the gardens to sketch. We even had time for a piggy biscuit before we returned to school!”

The visit helped bring classroom learning to life while encouraging creativity, observation and an appreciation of the natural world in a memorable outdoor setting.
