Families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of tennis, games and activities at Bath Tennis Club this September as the club brings the community together for a special cancer awareness fundraiser.
The Community Tennis Cancer Awareness Fundraiser takes place on Sunday 13 September from noon, with people of all ages and abilities welcome to join in.
The event will raise money for Dorothy House and Cancer Research UK while commemorating two much-loved Bath Tennis Club members, Daniel Money, 27, and Sarah Griffiths, 65, who both died from cancer in September 2025.
Visitors will be able to try a wide range of activities including junior tennis sessions, coaching drills, high-tempo cardio, pickleball and walking tennis, as well as taking part in a fun doubles tournament.
There will also be dedicated junior and family zones, making the afternoon suitable for younger visitors and those who may be trying tennis for the first time.
The event follows two previous Bath Tennis Club community open days held in April and July and will give visitors the chance to explore the Park Lane club, meet coaches and members and find out more about the facilities.
A rolling BBQ will be available from 2pm, costing £7 per person, alongside refreshments from the bar, Pimms, fresh fruit and homemade cakes. The afternoon will also include speeches and a raffle.
Visitors are encouraged to wear pink, with Price of Bath supporting the event by providing pink tennis balls.
Bath Tennis Club general manager Andrew Kettle said, “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by this awful condition. Whilst the theme is serious, the day will be special and one of remembrance and celebration as both Daniel and Sarah were highly positive people, enjoyed their tennis and did much for others and the tennis community.
“We are proud to offer a vibrant, inclusive space where people can come together through tennis and social events. Our Community Tennis Cancer Awareness Fundraiser is another fantastic way to showcase the club’s approach to what a supportive community is all about.”
The event is free to attend, although visitors are asked to sign up in advance. Donations to Dorothy House in memory of Sarah and Cancer Research UK in memory of Daniel are welcomed.
