King Edward’s School in Bath has been named the Best Value Independent School in the South West by The Telegraph in its 2026 guide to the UK’s leading independent schools.
The Telegraph’s rankings compare school fees with academic outcomes at GCSE, A-Levels and International Baccalaureate, while also taking into account factors including facilities, location and school type.
The recognition follows a series of recent accolades for King Edward’s School (KES). Earlier this year it was named the 2026 Independent Secondary School of the Year in the South West by The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide, while its most recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection identified pupil development as a ‘Significant Strength’.

Families rightly want to understand the value offered by an independent education and the opportunities it creates for their children.

Alongside its academic programme, KES pupils have opportunities to take part in sport, music, drama, art, outdoor learning, leadership and service activities, which the school says help young people develop confidence, independence and resilience.
The Telegraph notes in its methodology that although academic outcomes can be measured, other aspects of school life such as pastoral care, personal development and the range of experiences available to pupils are harder to quantify. These wider areas were highlighted in KES’s most recent ISI inspection, which recognised the school’s approach to supporting pupils’ academic, social and personal development.
