Students at Sheldon School and Sixth Form in Chippenham are celebrating another strong set of Post-16 results, with almost all of the Class of 2026 securing their chosen next steps.
The results build on the school’s strongest-ever performance last year, with students now preparing to head to universities, apprenticeships, gap years and opportunities overseas.
Among the top performers were Deya Piperkova, who achieved three As and will study Maths at Warwick, and Natasha Haslam, who also secured three As and is heading to Cardiff to study Law.
Amber Griffin achieved A*AAA and will study Environmental Geoscience with Study Abroad at Bristol, while Gemma Coxon gained four As and will study Pharmacy at Cardiff. Abi Rahn also achieved four As and has secured a place to study Medicine at York.
Other students heading into medicine and healthcare include Faaziah Islam, who achieved AAA and will study Medicine at Bristol, Tanisha Bogg, who gained DistinctionAA and will study Mental Health Nursing at Winchester, and Kate Mcintosh, who will study Physiotherapy at UWE Bristol.
Headteacher Pete Lynch said, “We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and all they have achieved. These strong results reflect years of hard work and determination. I wish them every happiness as they embark on the next stage of their journey. Wherever life takes them, they will always remain a valued and cherished part of the Sheldon family.”
Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, Eugene Spiers, highlighted the resilience shown by students, including those who had dealt with illness, bereavement, car accidents, caring responsibilities and having English as a second language while completing their studies.
He said, “Our students worked incredibly hard and showed real resilience and commitment to achieve these results. This is the sort of dedication that leads to excellent progress and outcomes that most students were happy with. I would also like to extend my thanks to our hardworking staff and to all the parents and carers for their support.”
Apprenticeships, gap years and overseas study
Alongside university places, several students will begin competitive higher-level and degree apprenticeships, including Sayma Ali and Max Jessop.
Others are planning gap years featuring camps in America and travel across Africa and Asia, while at least three students will study overseas. George Calthrop is heading to Canada, Otis Poole to the USA and Daniel Ffinch to the Netherlands.
The school also praised students who made particularly strong progress from their GCSE starting points, including Amelia Lynch, Max Jessop, William Johns, Poppy Price, Alex Edwards, Ben Piercey and Rose Bryant-Jefferies.
