News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Pupils from The Manor School in Melksham became scientists last week as they were visited by the team from The Festival of Tomorrow to enjoy a series of science-based workshops and activities.

During the week, the children learnt about bubbles, constructing electrical circuits, the digestive system, and renewable and solar power energy. At the end of the week, an Explorer Dome was constructed in the school hall for children to learn about space and light.

Mr Park, The Manor School’s newly appointed Principal, said, “We want the children at The Manor to have a curriculum which inspires them to learn and provides exciting and memorable experiences. Our science week has helped them to appreciate the importance of science. The children had lots of fun learning all about science and gaining new skills!”

The school’s science lead, Miss King, added, “It was great to see how enthusiastic the children were during the workshops and their excitement to get involved.”

The Festival of Tomorrow welcomes visitors to its base in Swindon, while also visiting schools across the region to create opportunities for everyone to grow an understanding of how science works, and how it can shape choices in a changing world. It launched its first school programme in February of 2021 and received over 13,000 student bookings. The programme is available to book for schools in Swindon and across White Horse Federation.
