Crofton Beam Engine Open Day

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday and Saturday, repeating until 27th September 2021
Crofton Beam Engines is a rare survivor of the Industrial Revolution and houses the oldest working Beam Engine in the world, still in its original location and still capable of pumping water to the summit level of the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Step back in time to when steam ruled all and explore this hidden gem. Learn of the station’s history, speak with volunteers, discover the engineering challenges and the people who overcame them to build the canal and make sure that it had a plentiful supply of water.
