Under the direction of former Prima Ballerina, Marina Medvetskaya, Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet has won plaudits across the world. They first visited Bath last year as part of their first British tour.
Tchaikovsky’s exquisite Swan Lake tells the romantic story of dashing Prince Siegfried who falls in love with Odette, the beautiful Queen of the Swans. The wicked sorcerer Von Rothbart uses his magic to thwart their happiness and trick the Prince with the help of Odile. Discovering their plot, Siegfried returns to the lakeside distraught. The Prince seeks forgiveness from Odette and resolves to prevail against Rothbart’s evil once and for all. Accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s sublime and instantly recognisable score, Swan Lake is one of the world’s most evocative and best-loved ballets.
The enchantingly festive tale of The Nutcracker tells of Clara’s fantastical adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, the Mouse King and the Sugar Plum Fairy. The perfect introduction to ballet, this eternal seasonal favourite is presented in a brand new version by Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet. Brimming with Tchaikovsky’s much-loved melodies, this fairy tale delight transports audiences to a magical world of make-believe.
