Children, staff and parents at Freshford Pre-school are thrilled to be celebrating the new year with an Outstanding grade from Ofsted, following an inspection in the final week of last term.
The inspector, who spent a morning at the pre-school, deemed it to be Outstanding in all four areas: effectiveness of leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; and outcomes for children.
Specific comments on the report included ‘The manager and staff provide children with an excellent balance of exciting and inventive learning experiences, with a strong emphasis placed on the children leading their own play.’ and ‘Children flourish and make superb use of the outside area to be physically active. They gain a wonderful awareness of people’s similarities and differences and of cultures different to their own.’
Debbie Giles, Freshford Pre-school Manager is delighted with the outcome. “We are so pleased that Ofsted recognises the level of achievement of our children. We try hard to offer a variety of engaging activities and experiences for the children throughout the year and work with each child to realise their individual development milestones. This is a great boost to everyone involved in the Pre-school and we are incredibly proud of this result.”
