Kingswood Prep School in Bath has been rated as excellent in every area of its inspection ISI report.
The inspectors, who visited the school in December 2016, undertook detailed observations which included observing lessons, conducting formal interviews with pupils and examining samples of pupils’ work. They held discussions with staff and governors, observed a sample of the extra-curricular activities that were held during the inspection period and attended form meetings and assemblies. The inspectors also visited the school’s boarding house and the facilities for the youngest pupils, together with learning support.
The responses of parents and pupils to pre-inspection questionnaires were analysed, and the inspectors examined curriculum and other documentation made available by the school.
Key findings from the report praised the excellent quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements and the pupils’ personal development. The inspectors reported that all pupils make good and often excellent progress in English and Maths and across the curriculum, and that they are articulate, motivated and able to work independently. The children are able to use their initiative and make decisions. They can assess their overall achievement and have exceptionally well developed skills in ICT and strong study skills which enables them to hypothesise, collate and analyse data at a high level.
The report also detailed that Kingswood Prep School pupils are confident, self-aware, reflective and resilient and have a comprehensive understanding of how to keep safe. The children demonstrate a mature and deep understanding of spirituality, highly valuing the non-material things in life and are well behaved and disciplined as well as being well prepared for the next steps in their education and beyond.
Head of Kingswood Prep School, Mark Brearey, said, “I am absolutely delighted with the findings of the inspectors in our recent report and the feedback has been extremely valuable. In particular, the tremendous work both within and out of the classroom by our committed staff and the range of our excellent sport, music, drama and extra-curricular provision. I was particularly pleased that the inspectors felt that our boarders are really well supported.”
Mr Brearey continued, “There is always much to do, but this excellent ISI Report allied to our new build, which includes new Year 5 and 6 classrooms, Art and Innovation areas, new Hall and Music Centre and our New Pre-School and Nursery, these are indeed very exciting times at Kingswood Prep School.”
