Members of the public are invited to a night of entertainment under the stars at Bath’s Royal Victoria Park on Saturday 2 September. This year’s Movie by Moonlight is an outdoor screening of the musical Moulin Rouge (certificate 12A).
Movie by Moonlight is organised every year by the fundraising charity for Bath’s Royal United Hospitals (RUH) The Forever Friends Appeal. The Appeal raises funds for all areas of the hospital, including the major fundraising RUH Cancer Care Campaign.
Emily Lynch, Events & Community Officer at the Forever Friends Appeal said, “We’d like to see as many people as possible at this year’s screening. You don’t need a ticket to attend, just make a donation on the gate. Bring a blanket and snuggle up under the stars to watch this romantic musical. I’ll be there with my team welcoming everyone and we hope that people will make a generous donation on the night as all the money raised will go to our Cancer Care Campaign, for a pioneering new Cancer Centre to be built at the RUH.
“We know that one in two people are affected by cancer and everyday lives are changed by this disease. Therefore, the Appeal aims to raise a minimum of £8.5 million towards the building of the new Cancer Centre which will transform the care for patients and their families at Bath’s RUH. So far, an incredible £8 million has been raised, so we are getting close to the amount we need and that’s why we organise events like these so people can show their support and make a donation whilst enjoying free entertainment.”
The gates to the Movie by Moonlight event will open at 5pm and the film will start at 8:30pm. Access to the area will not be allowed before 5pm, so please don’t arrive too early.
