Monkey Music has officially launched its music classes for babies and young children in Bath (it only took 25 years!) with a series of Open Days which will take place from Monday 19 February. To celebrate, Monkey himself visited the city, and took time out from promoting the classes to visit some of the city’s famous landmarks…
The Open Days will take place –
– Monday 19 February – Miller Room, St Nicholas Church, Mill Lane, Bathampton, BA2 6TU
– Thursday 22 February – Nexus Walcot Methodist Church, London Road, Bath, BA1 5DA
– Friday 23 February – St Luke’s Wellsway, Hatfield Road, Bath, BA2 2BD
(The timetable has changed slightly from that printed in the flyers you can find in the January/February edition of Bath and Wiltshire Parent.)
Ursula Fitzpatrick, who runs Monkey Music Bath and Chippenham with Bill Matthews, said, “Monkey Music provides curriculum-based music classes for children from 3 months to 4 years, in age-specific classes that are both fun and educational. The classes feature original songs, many based round a lovely pink monkey – although he’s not quite as big as Monkey here. Every session also includes movement and a chance for the children to bang a few drums and shake a few maracas.”
The Open Days run from 10am, with extra sessions having been added at 11am at both Walcot and St Luke’s. Ursula continues, “They are great fun for everyone, and are a chance to find out what Monkey Music is all about. They run for 30 minutes each, are for mixed ages, and are of course free. And there will be a chance to chat afterwards and ask any questions.“

In the following week, starting Monday 26 February, the age-specific classes will start, running on the same days and at the same venues as the Open Days: Rock’n’Roll for babies, Heigh-Ho for 12-24 months, and Jiggety-Jig and 2/3 year olds in their usual time slots.
