News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Pupils from Kingswood Prep School recently celebrated the school’s multicultural background with a Languages Day.

The day began with a whole school assembly which included children speaking in their native languages, ranging from French and Spanish to Italian, German, Farsi, Russian, Cantonese, Japanese and Welsh. The assembly also included short plays, songs and weather reports delivered in different languages.

This year, the school aimed to combine Languages Day and international awareness to give the pupils the opportunity to learn more in depth about the geography, culture, art and traditions and customs of a specific country chosen by each class, as well as trying out some of the languages.

At play time, pupils were celebrated Mardi Gras in the sun before taking part in the annual ‘Course aux crêpes;.

Meanwhile, 14 Kingswood pupils and two members of staff, Miss Jones and Mr Musgrove, recently participated in the annual ‘Big Bath Sleep Out’ at Alice Park. The event aims to raise awareness and money for homelessness in the city.

A whole afternoon and evening of rain provided poor conditions for the pupils and staff, and the group got limited sleep. However, sleeping out made the group think of those who are less privileged than themselves, and they raised vital funds for Julian House.
