News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Saint Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Bath has held a Good News assembly to celebrate a team of children and parents who recently ran the Bath Half Marathon and family fun run, raising over £1,000 for their school in the process. Each member of the team members was presented with their medals, as well as a special school certificate accompanied by a roof-raising round of applause from their classmates and teachers.

Mr Tarrant, Headteacher, explained, “As the Just Giving site for the team said, ‘St Mary’s is a small but really special primary school with an amazing community spirit. With school budgets being ever more tightly squeezed, the PTA is working hard towards raising £4000 for 16 new school laptops and a charging trolley. It’s a lot of money and a big ask but these IT facilities are desperately needed and will benefit every child in the school.’

“The school is committed to continually improving the quality of its provision for its families and the community has come together to help the school purchase the new equipment which will allow the current IT suite to be transformed into an exciting new space for the community to use.

“I am extremely proud of the team who has dedicated months of practice, including the three mums who donned their running shoes and ran the main race after months of practice, to help improve the facilities of the school. It was an emotional experience watching our young people – the youngest being only five years old – proudly displaying the school name on their T-shirts and running with beaming smiles on their faces.”
