St Martin’s Garden Primary School in Bath is delighted to announce that it has achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year for the first time.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community..
St Martin’s Garden’s sporting achievements this year include:
– A record number of inter-school competitions and festivals attended by a record number of pupils.
– More inclusive and accessible sports included in both competitions and after school club programmes.
– More after-school clubs provided free of charge.
– More than 50 children performed on stage at the Dance Umbrella.
– Many classes benefited from specialist sports coaching held at the Bath Recreation Ground.
– School-wide scooting and skateboarding workshops.
– A wide range of professional coaches delivering high quality PE lessons.
– The purchase of durable, all-weather steel football goals, used daily by pupils and for a number of football matches that we were able to host on the school’s playing fields.
“With nearly all children in the school competing in local inter-school competitions and festivals this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including all the teachers, coaches and parents who made our competitions possible,” said Mrs Franklin-Adams, PE Co-ordinator.
“As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. We look forward to building on our success again in 2020!”
