Daisy, a Year 6 pupil at the Paragon School in Bath, has received some very exciting news; as a budding song writer, she has found out that she is a finalist in the Song Academy’s Young Song Writer 2020 competition!
The Song Academy is a leading platform for young songwriters aged 8-18 years, enabling young people to express themselves and be heard. Winners will have the opportunity to perform at a live showcase in London and will also receive some great prizes.
“I started song writing because I can let my emotions out in my songs,” explained Daisy. “If I have a tune in my head, I go to the piano (even if it’s after bedtime!), and start singing and coming up with lyrics. Now I write new songs all the time and am always coming up with new ideas.
“Sweet And Sour was the first song I wrote – it’s about someone who can be really nice one minute and mean the next – and I entered it into the Song Academy’s Young Song Writer 2020 competition. I found out this week that I’m a finalist and I’m really really happy! I also have a YouTube channel called Daisy’s Friday Vibes where I upload a new song (either a cover or an original) every Friday”.
Director of Music at The Paragon School, Mrs Sarah Kettlety, commented, “I am delighted for Daisy; she is a great asset to our audition choir at The Paragon and I’m so glad she has decided to share her talents with the world!”
