Creative Roots Outdoor Learning has launched a Woodland Holiday Club for children age 4 – 11, which will take place from 4-16 April at Combe Grove in Bath.
“We provide an inspiring and rich environment where children can learn new skills, work with natural materials and explore the magic of woodland,” explained Dominika Baran from Creative Roots. “The activities include den building, singing, bushcraft, cooking and storytelling around the campfire, as well as whittling, clay, weaving, felting and spinning with wool, mindfulness games and lots more.
“Combe Grove’s market garden and Ralph Allen Farm provides the children with extra activities where they can grow and harvest vegetables, identify and forage edible plants and feed animals. There’s also time for free play in an exciting, open-ended environment with a mud kitchen, sandpit, playhouse and shelter.”
Dominika added that all of the Creative Roots team are experienced nature connection facilitators and qualified Steiner Early Years teachers. “We offer well balanced activities which include adult-led time as well as child initiated, experiential learning with elements of hands-on, inquiry-based and problem-based approach to learning. Our unique nature-based learning and play approach is infused with elements of Waldorf pedagogy. We have DBS enhanced checks, Advance Child Protection & Safeguarding Training, and Outdoor First Aid.
“We believe that regular time outdoors, play and connection with nature are fundamental parts of education, at every stage, for every child and young person. Our mission is to inspire and enable positive outdoor experiences. In so doing, we encourage a greater appreciation of the natural environment.”
The two weeks of activities run from 5-9 and 12-16 April, and 9.30am to 3pm, at a cost of £35 per day, per child.
