News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Mindapples has been promoting mental health and wellbeing across the UK since 2008, including a focus on schools to share their message that taking care of minds is natural and normal for everyone. They are now looking for 100 UK schools to receive free wellbeing and resilience training.

Since mental wellbeing and resilience became a statutory part of the curriculum, Mindapples helps schools deliver on that promise to young people. As a result, it has developed a package of training and classroom resources to support teachers in delivering the new curriculum and developing an approach to mental wellbeing that can benefit the whole school community, including staff, pupils and parents.

Among the schools taking part is St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Bath. Headteacher Andy Tarrant explained, “Mindapples isn’t something that’s on a shelf, it’s something very active, something which you can take forward. As the children are going to be developing it over the years they are at the school, they will then have that as part of them that they can take on to secondary school, university and beyond.”

Mindapples provides a virtual training half day course that equips school staff with the awareness and understanding that they need to take care of their own minds, plus the tools to help them facilitate positive conversations about mental health and wellbeing with pupils, school communities and families. This helps to build cultures and promote healthy habits and open conversations.

Mindapples complements the training by providing school campaign packs and age-targeted lesson plans and assembly resources. Containing colourful materials, posters, applecards and other resources for engaging young people, these resource packs allow staff to run their own wellbeing campaigns for the school community.
