A group of St Margaret’s Prep pupils participated in The IAPS National Swimming Finals at the London Aquatics Centre in June. After fantastic performances in the regional qualifying gala, which was hosted at St Margaret’s back in March, both St Margaret’s boys and girls U11 8 x 25m relay teams were invited to compete in this prestigious gala.
After superb efforts on the day, both teams came away with silver medals. Over 400 Prep Schools enter this competition and competed in 40 regional qualifiers before the fastest teams made it into the National Finals. The pupils’ efforts are represented in their times on the day- with personal bests from both teams.
“Congratulations to all the pupils who took part and to Mr Dury and Mrs White who lead the swimming programme at St Margaret’s,” said Headmaster Luke Bromwich.
“Swimming starts early at St Margaret’s– and throughout June, our youngest swimmers in Upper Nursery and Reception were thrilled to share their progress in the pool with their parents during their ‘Open Swim.’ These children have made fantastic progress this year – maybe in a few years, they will be competing for the school in the National Finals!”
