There’s a summer of high-octane family fun just waiting to be discovered at Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset has launched a summer of high-octane family fun including a children’s trail, a dedicated children’s motoring inspired play area and special parades of cars.
Packed with precious metal, the Museum, based in Sparkford, Nr. Yeovil, Somerset, is the UK’s largest collection of the greatest cars and bikes from around the world.
This summer, from 23rd July – 4th September, visitors can marvel at some of the most extraordinary vehicles ever built including an incredibly rare 1931 Duesenberg Model J, a favourite of the museum’s founder John Haynes OBE and valued in excess of £12m.
Feel the need for speed with a Williams Formula 1 car driven by racing legend Nigel Mansell and the iconic Eighties super car, the Lamborghini Countach.
Don’t miss the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT, one of the most classic profiles in sports car history, and travel back in time to the birth of motoring with a 19th century Benz Patent Motorwagen, the world’s first motorised vehicle.
There a fun summer trail designed to appeal to visitors of all ages. Collect a folder of brass rubbings hidden around the displays to reveal a secret code and become an ‘Official Motoring Master’.
On selected days every week over the Summer the Museum will also be putting on a special parade of cars in its outdoor display area. Visitors can see under the bonnet of a selection of marvellous motors and maybe even sit behind the driver’s seat.
Kids can let off steam in the dedicated children’s motoring inspired play area or, for especially younger drivers, a fleet of tiny cars can transport them around the museum’s car collection.
It’s also the last chance for visitors to see one of the biggest and best Motorcycle Speedway Collections in the UK, as it is being sold at auction later this year.
Housed within 17 exhibition areas, its vast collection spans everything from the birth of motoring and nostalgic classics of the 50s and 60s, to glorious Bentleys and Rolls Royces and stunning super cars of the modern day.
Located just off the A303 at Sparkford in Somerset, it’s a great place for a fun, family day out or the ideal stop-off point.
