The Egg Assembly is hosting Cardboard Academy, is holding a practical, hands-on and online five-week course of one-hour workshops starting on Tuesday 13th September, in collaboration with theatre designer and puppet maker Sam Wilde.
Budding young designers can learn the skills and design concepts used by set, costume and puppetry designer Sam Wilde to create their own show from recycled materials. The one-hour 5pm online sessions will run every Tuesday for five weeks from 13th September to 11th October.
Recommended for ages 13 to 21 years, participants will explore the process of designing, puppet making and crafting with waste materials and recycled cardboard, including the signature cardboard-style of Sam’s viral hits I Want My Hat Back and The Fir Tree for Shakespeare’s Globe.
Theatre designer Sam Wilde, said, “I’m really excited about this new project. Cardboard Academy is a fantastic series of digital workshops where you’ll work with me to create your own cardboard shows, including cardboard puppets both big and small, cardboard story-boarding and making your own cardboard theatre. So, remember to save all your boxes and sign up. I hope to see you there.”
